Furnace, treadmill, oil change - never go to Sears
May 6, 2008
Sears complaint
My negative experience with Sears started when my furnace died. I called them to get an estimate. The salesman gave me a 6k price for a furnace. And gave in a discount if i sign right now, which i think brought down the price to around 5k. Still it is a huge amount of money and I explained to him that I need to think about it. He started pushing me to sign, telling me how reliable and efficient they are. I decided not to go with Sears and after some research, hired a local company, they installed the furnace for 2k and I am very happy with their service not to mention I saved so much money. I didnt shop at Sears for a long time and then I decided to get a treadmill. I shopped around and found one that I liked at Sears. I ordered it online for a pickup, placed the order and next day I received an email that they cancelled my order cause they were out of stock at that location. I guess they dont know how to manage their inventory. So, I decided to order it again. I called the customer service and picked another location for pick up. The salesperson assured me that they had the treadmill in stock. And of course they didnt. Only this time they didnt send me an email and I found out that the order was cancelled again after I called them. I gave up trying to get the treadmill from them and order it from Proform directly, saved money on shipping and got a great treadmill. My last and final trip to Sears was to change oil in my car. My car is a new Nissan model. So I get to Sears (hesitant, but I was in a hurry and decided to get the oil changed quickly), they fill out a form and turns out they don't have oil filter for this model since it just came out. So they advise I go back to the dealership (and get ripped off) cause they can't service my car. Next day I called my mechanic, he ordered the filter for me and changed the oil. After this I will never, ever go back to Sears. They are the worst company.
