Sears review in Rocklin, California: Problems from Sale to Install

1.0
Details
I read reviews before going to Sears and thought they must be exagerating but NO. It will be difficult for me to sum up my experience here but I must try. From the purchase to the delivery and set up (my washer is now sitting in the middle of my living room) to the call center that is on the other side of the world from me, this has been the WORST experience of my life with any store. I should have gotten a clue when I walked in to an empty store. Seriously, there was nobody else in the whole Sears store that I could see. After the sale I was left to deal with the call center which must be located over seas. I believe they will tell you anything to get you off the phone and leave you to wait and wonder if and when someone is ever coming to install. Let's back up a bit to the purchase. I bought a W/D. I was also sold stainless hoses, a washer drip pan in addition to a take away charge and a 4 prong plug (they said they couldn't use the one I have). My appt is set and I recieve a text stating the driver will call me 30 min prior to confirm. I wait at work for the call for my 11-1pm window. No call. I call, "oh they are running late" I am told this 3 times until I call at 630pm and then I am told they came out 5 hours ago and no one was home and I am scheduled for 4 days from now. REALLY? So I fight on the phone for about 2 hours and finally get an appt for two days later. One of the things they sold me at the original point of sale was a drip pan for my washer. Soooo. They arrive on Friday, my second afternoon off work, and inform me that they do not install the drip pans, they only bring them. Also, the *** installer couldn't get the old hot water hose off and told me I would have to hire a plumber to have this done and also have the hole drilled for the pan to fit over the existing drain hole. I am 55 and a single mom and sorry, I don't have *** saw handy!!! It would have been nice to know this needed to be done!!!! NOW, he says, we will leave your washer here in your living room and you need to hire a plumber to get the rest done. BYE. And they leave and mind you they took my old washer and dryer with them. SOOO I call a plumber and pay a ridiculous amount for them to do these two things and call Sears and tell them I need to have someone come back out and finish the install and they say "OK great you are on for tomorrow you will get a call with your time window." I did not get a call and at 930pm I call and they say "We have no record of you". This results in ANOTHER 45 minute call and most of my evening. I don't know about any of you that might be reading this but I am a reasonable person and this has just been an absolute nightmare. I can see taking an afternoon off to take delivery, but having a 3rd and 4th appointment is beyond what is appropriate. I used to think Sears was an iconic store but I don't see them being around much longer. Bottom line. I will NEVER buy anything from Sears again. They are a dinasaur stuck in the past and sadly are just no longer relevent.

Sears review in Seattle, Washington: Bad tool, worse customer service

1.7
Details
Awful experience. The tools that Sears make are just not what they used to be. A new set of sockets was bad enough to fail after using it three times. I went to Sears in Southcenter Mall, Seattle, WA, to return them and exchange for another but did not have my receipt with me. I purchased the items a little over a month ago at another Sears up the road. Since the store's computer system is completely antiquated, the receipt could not be retrieved using my phone number, email or credit card. The store manager would not offer store credit. Instead, he offered one excuse and insult after another. He made fun of how I used a bucket from another brand for carrying my tools. He said he's been in retail for 43 years and without the receipt there's nothing that can be done. He looked at my address and interrogate me about why I didn't go to the other store to make the return (I live in between the two stores and it happened to be more convenient for me that day). He huffed and puffed about how customers cannot be trusted, and suggested that it wasn't me who purchased the tools. Apparently neither can Sears be trusted. Not for quality tools and not for customer service. Time and money wasted. Do yourself a favor and shop somewhere else.

Sears - Installation Review from Colleyville, Texas

Worst buying experience ever. Bought washer & dryer from my local store, delivery arrives and can't install dryer because I don't have proper vent, which they conveniently don't carry or sell in their store for the products they sell. So I go to a COMPETITOR and purchase what I was told to purchase and delivery returns a week later and tells me I still don't have the right part. Dryer is currently in my living room and I've paid nearly 400 dollars just for delivery, installation and parts and no one, local, delivery or through the 800 number can seem to tell me what to do or what exactly I need.

Sears.com - Don't do it

Details
I ordered a Garmin running watch from Sears.com. Got an email receipt and everything looked good. Delivery date was a couple of days after purchase. Delivery date came and went. I called customer service and was told the product was being fulfilled by a 3rd party and I had to contact them myself. I mentioned that I went through the Sears.com site and the agent said there was nothing he could do. 3rd party said there was a delay in shipping. A few days later the USPS tracking number said I would be receiving the product in 2 days - finally. Product came today and it wasn't in the origianl package and didnt look new. I called the manufactor Garmin and was told the product had been previously registered and it was part of a premium bundle. I didn't receive the premium parts. No where on the website, receipt or packing slip did it indicate I was receiving a used product. I called Sears customer service and was told they would contract the vendor and it would be at least 3 business days before I could get a return shipping label. I went ahead and disputed the charge with my credit card company with their advise. Unbelievable

Sears won't refund electric gift card

I made a fairly large order from Sears with two electric gift cards. Upon seeing a mistake on the order I canceled the order. So I come to find out that they would not refund the funds back on the original gift cards. They said they have to send a physical gift card to me and that it would take 7-10 days. What kind of company does this? I have never seen a modern company not refund the amount back to the gift card immediately. There is no reason they cant refund the amount or at the very least issue a new e-card. So, now I'm out that money for two weeks and I can't finish my purchase with sears. I will now have to place an order elsewhere as I need those products before 2 weeks. This is not how you treat people who want to spend money with your company. When I receive my cards, I will sell them and never purchase anything at Sears again.

Sears review in Brooklyn, New York: Alignment Horror

2.8
Details
This is for the Bedford Ave Sears Auto Store in Brooklyn. I went to the Auto Center 3 times within a 2-month period and my alignment is still a problem. Initially, the first service technician was upset over taking off the wheel hub caps for proper alignment and did not center the steering wheel straight using the steering wheel holder. I return that same day to have it corrected. Ten weeks later, I went back again because the car would not track straight in just under 1,000 miles. The technician found the front steering rod bolts loose and realigned the front wheels. He then advises me that he would not be able to honor the alignment warranty because the rear tire-rods bolts were seized. I ask him: "How were they able to align my car the first time?", to which he replied, "We used a blow torch and applied heat to loosen it up.". I ask him, "Can you do that again so you can honor the warranty and correct the alignment?". He said, "No. I cannot do that because that would damage the steering rods. You would need to replace the steering rods before I can align the vehicle.". I ask him, "Why did you apply heat to the tire rod during the first alignment if that is known to damage the tire rods?". He did not want to answer the question and directed me to the store manager Andres. I spoke with Andres and he was not very helpful. He sides with the technician that the rear tie rods need replacement in order to warrant my alignment. I tried reasoning with Andre that the technician should not have applied heat if it is known that would damage the tire rods, but he kept insisting that I would need to change the tire rods in order for them to correct the problem. I call Sears complaint hotline at 847-286-2500 to log this complaint and Sears Corporation advise my complaint is forwarded to the District Manager, but cannot guarantee a call or response from them. I also spoke with the Store Manager, Andres, over the phone and he still insists that I change my rear tire rods that the Sears technician damaged in order to warrant my alignment.

I forgot to mention... they ruined our wood floors and broke the glass kitchen light shade when installing the original fridge that broke a few months later.

So we lost $3012.55 on a fridge that we don't have now, lost $600 in food that went bad, lost ~$100 on the dining room light they broke, have a messed up wood floor that we haven't fixed, and we have been without a fridge for over a month and a half with no end in sight...

unbelievable, Sears. unbelievable.

Terrible service from Sears

this was my last email sent to Sears: Just for the record I went into a store and purchased nearly $5000 worth of kitchen appliances on Feb 18th for delivery on March 6th for a kitchen remodel. On March 3rd I received a audio recording saying there was a change to my delivery and for me to call a 1800 number to reschedule. Upon calling I was told NONE of the appliances were available for delivery. When I asked when they would be available as I was working with a contractor, she told me MAYBE the month of May!!! Mind you I didn't order anything exotic. She offered me no solutions in way of a substitute other than she was sorry. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she told me someone would call. Never received a call. I then called the store and was told they didn't have time to talk to me because they were "helping another customer and would have to call me back" I asked to speak to a manager at the store level and was told no one was there! So imagine my frustration. I went to HomeDepot.com and ordered all new appliances and had them delivered in less than 48 hours! While it takes Sears nearly 3 months??? In this day and time when there is so much competition how does Sears stay in business? this was my first time shopping at a sears in over 5 years and I will wager I will never enter one again. I don't want anything from Sears but my complete refund of $4797 which was charged to my AMEX. I will be filing a charge dispute with AMEX if my card is not credited by Friday March 6th. 7-10 days is ridiculous for a refund but mind you so is waiting 3 months for a delivery. I guess I should expect nothing else from this corporation. Its a shame you had an opportunity to have a new customer instead you have lost one for life.
