Very poor online customer service at SEARS

Here's a copy of the letter (unanswered) that I sent to sears: Let me start by saying that I have been a life-long Sears customer and avid home mechanic (I'm in my 50's). I teach nuclear operations for a major utility and restore old cars and motorcycles as a hobby. Lots of people come to me for mechanical advice every day. Until recently, I have always recommended Sears Professional tools. The very first tool set I bought myself at age 18 was from Sears. I must have at least $10,000.oo worth of Sears tools in my garage in addition to a Sears ZTR mower, Air compressor, garage door opener and much more. I have a Sears professional mechanics tool set and tool chests that cost me ~$5000.oo in 1998. All my friends were ordering Mac or Snap-on, but I sang the praises of Sears and put my money where my mouth is. Recently, my stepson, who comes to me for mechanical insights, asked me to get him a ratcheting wrench set for his birthday. He went out of his way to say that he wasn't much of a mechanic and something from Wal-Mart or Northern Tools would be fine. I would have none of that and ordered him a genuine Sears Craftsman set ( 1ZV614F2YW15018788 ). I also liked the idea of ordering on-line and having it delivered directly to his house(as I did with my other son when I ordered him a Gas Barbeque from Sears). After entering all the required ordering data and my son's address, I was prompted for the billing info and entered it as directed. The order was completed but the confirmation showed MY address as the ship to address, not his. A quick call to customer service to correct this mistake resulted in a debacle involving multiple calls, multiple extensive holds, MULTIPLE DISCONNECTIONS and some outright hang ups! I even asked them if I could order a SECOND set (would keep the first one for myself), but could they please ship it overnight at no charge due to the distress I was experiencing. After a LONG hold I was told no and when I started to explaing what I am now putting in writing, the person didn't even wait for me to finish and hung up on me. Now, I don't plan to keep the set coming to my address because every time I use it it I'll be reminded of this terrible customer service experience. Finally, you must know that I was never abusive to your people, but once they felt that they couldn't help me, they hung up. I'm very disappointed and will share this perception when asked. Sears in Wichita, Kansas - Use Cash Folks

Purchased a treadmill on 7/15. Defective one delivered on 7/23. New one supposed to be delivered in the morning of 7/23. They came at 2:30. Told them to take the defective one and keep the new one. Finally got a refund on 8/24. Claims there was a "glitch" in their system. And when I took it to Facebook, they posted a nice apology and then promptly deleted my post. I will not walk into a Sears, K-Mart, or Lands End EVER. Apparently walking away from a 1700.00 sale is something Sears doesn't mind doing.

Sears can't deliver at a reasonable time

I ordered a gas range/stove from Sears.com. I was told that delivery would be on the 27th, which was already a week after I ordered it. I told them that I needed an afternoon delivery. When I got the call to give me my delivery window, the delivery time was between 10:15 and 12:15. This would not fit my work schedule, since I needed an afternoon delivery. After waiting for nearly 30 minutes on the phone, I was able to speak with someone about getting a later delivery time and was told that the next available delivery was on the 10 of September. This would be 4 weeks after I ordered the range and also during my vacation. He would "be happy" to set up delivery for the 17th, but would still not be guaranteed an afternoon delivery. This was unacceptable, so I took my business somewhere else.

Sears warrenty service, 2 weeks to fix a Fridge

Sears warranty service is a reason to never buy at Sears In February 27th of this year we replaced a refrigerator with a new Kenmore refrigerator / Freezer. Today, August 26th everything in the refrigerator side was frozen, and the water dispenser no longer dispensed water. I called Sears service 800 number, requested a warranty service call, and was told that I would have to wait over 2 weeks until September 10th for a warranty service call. The agent suggested I call customer solutions at another number. I called the customer solutions number, and was again told that I would be waiting until September 10th, but was promised a call back to arrange an earlyer service date. I am still waiting for the call back. I then called customer solutions again and asked to have the unit replaced, and was told that it could not be replaced with out 4 service calls in one year. I asked if I could have an non-sears service company fix it, and was told that using an outside service company, I would void the warranty and Sears would not pay for the repairs. So, they will not fix it in a timely manner, they will not replace it, and the warranty is voided if I use an alternate service company. Kafka could not have written a more convoluted warranty. This is the last large appliance I will ever buy from Sears.

Sears has terrible systems ans service

I ordered an item on line. It was suppose to be in the store but after I ordered it they said it wasn't. I went to cancel the order but no one could help. A supervisor was suppose to get on the phone but after 20 minutes they just hung up on me I called back and after another 15 minutes a supervisor in on line solution Pamela said systems were down but she would call me once it was resolved. Of course she didn't and no way to get back to her as they won't you give their extensions. I emailed and the *** who responded said it would be in the store She doesn't seem to understand the word cancel either.

Sears On-Line is Bad, very Bad

So I purchased an item from Sear On-Line. It wasn't to be delivered by Sears but rather a third party. The price seemed quite good, but postage was very high, still together it was a good price. I was told I wouldn't even receive the item for month. OK I guess to save some money its worth it. It wasn't. So almost a month goes by and I receive an e-mail that the item was shipped. But wait, an hour later I receive an email that the item was returned and I was being refunded the money. I payed with PayPal which gave me some protection. So I go back to the Sears site, and look for the same item. It comes up from the same seller, but now instead of being the $30 I paid, the price was $132. Note that the list price of the item was about $65, so this price was just ridiculous. So I'm pissed because they waited almost a month to tell me they weren't going to give me the item I purchased, and not honor my order. Why it would even take a month for an item to arrive in this day and age should have been a red flag right there. Something is seriously wrong at Sears. Don't give them a cent until you have the item in-hand.
