Sears does not stand behind their product

In March of 2010 I purchased a front-loading washing machine from Sears in order to take advantage of the $150 govt rebate that was offered at that time. The machine I purchased said "Kenmore" on it. Delivery and installation went smoothly and I used the machine twice before all *** broke loose. During the 3rd use, I turned the machine on and went downstairs to clean (my laundry room is on the 2nd floor). As I was vaccumming the steps, imagine my dismay when I saw water running out of the laundry room and onto my brand new laminate floor in the hallway. I ran into the laundry room and saw water spurting out of the front of the machine in the area where you put the detergent (NOT out of the back of the machine where it is attached to the water supply). As you can imagine, it was quite a mess. I called in water damage people who repaired everything to the tune of almost $10,000. My insurance company paid for everything(minus my $1000 deductible, of course) and this is where my woes really begin. I had of course been in touch with Sears during all this time as it was their machine that had malfunctioned and thus they should be held responsible for damages. How naive of me! Come to find out, even though the machine had "Kenmore" on it, it was manufactured by LG, so now Sears, although apologetic, tells me I have to deal with LG. Lots and lots of stuff in the interval which would bore you, but it is now almost January 2011, and you guessed it, my insurance company has still not been reimbursed and I am still out my $1000 deductible, not to mention that my insurance rates will escalate since I had to make a claim. LG is fighting the case because they say it could have been an installation error and Sears says it was not an installation error because the water was coming out the front of the machine and also I had no problems the first 2 times I used it. In the meantime, the insurance arbitrator is getting absolutely no where and I am stuck in the middle. The only good thing that happened was that I ended up with a TOP LOADING Maytag that I absolutely love. But I will NEVER deal with Sears again. Their name was on the product, and they should have stood behind what they sold instead of putting a customer in the middle. Shame on them!!

Recommend everyone who has a problem simply email smsupport@searshc.com. I assure you they will help and you. That group may be small but they are decision makers and could not have been more fair with us after we too started with a pretty negative experience.

Purchase from Sears.com failed to deliver in time

On 12/15/2010, I ordered an item from Sears.COM and received notice that it should be delivered by 12/20/2010. On 12/21/2010, I received another email stating the delivery date had changed to 12/28/2010. I had paid for 2-day UPS service and tried to get that refunded. However, Sears says that is an 'independent vendor' on their site and I have to go to them. They gave me their number, which is never answered by a live person. AVOID ordering from Sears.com as you do not know from whom you are buying and Sears.com does NOT stand behind what they purportedly sell.

Sears Price Protection Policy

Sears Holding Company called today and agreed that they had made a mistake. They promptly refunded the $385.00 as per their Price Adjustment Policy. Don't ask you don't get. We asked and they responded as per their own policy. Recommend everyone who has a problem simply email smsupport@searshc.com. I assure you they will help and you won't be pulling your hair out after 90 minutes of frustrating phone time. We couldn't be happier with the fact that they responded so fast but also, they fixed our issue quickly. It helps to get to the right folks.

Don't do business with Sears

I am another consumer caught in Sears limbo. Our hot water heater decided to give up the ghost on Christmas. I immediately got online and ordered a replacement with expedited delivery. The water heater was supposed to arrive yesterday. Emphasis on "supposed". I took the day off work to wait for the water heater that never arrived. After approximately 12 phone calls (including being transferred to the same departments a few times) and waiting on hold for at least 10 minutes with each transfer, I was finally able to find out that my water heater wasn't delivered because it was out of stock. Wouldn't it have been more efficient to update the website to reflect that and offer other in-stock choices? Anyway, since the order is still "processing" (even though my bank account was promptly debited for the entire purchase price plus $142 for expedited shipping), I cannot get a refund. The status will change only when the water heater is restocked. Who in h*** knows when that will be? So, here I sit….no hot water heater, no money to buy another one until Sears gives me my money back. To save time, I opened a dispute with PayPal. I may see my money in 30 days. The silver lining is I have very nice neighbors who are allowing me to use their shower and I have wised up to never doing business with Sears again. Everyone else would be smart to do the same.

Bought a mattress and box spring from them a few years back and after we slept in it a few months it started sinking in the middle. Was suspicious of their drivers who delivered after they asked for the plastic cover back to cover the old mattress which was very clean and looked good.

Saw add in local paper for same mattress sold cheap as new right after. I am wondering if I got swapped on the new one I purchased.

I will never buy another from Sears again and will let out the word.

Sears review in Modesto, California: Nothing gets done through customer service

Sears is slipping and I don't think they care. They give you a phone number to call for problems and if you call one it is people from other countries that don't know how to take care of your problems. The other number at least the lady I talked to sounds like she is from America and can handle my complaints. But nothing was done to take care of my problem and as long as Sears takes care of their customers this way I hope some day people quit doing business with you. Thank You, No need in leaving my name because to sears it doesn't make any difference.

How do you expect sears to help the customer when they don't even stand behind their employees!

You never said what the problem was that you had. Sadly everyone outsources to other countries for first level of support.

If you really want to reach someone who talks English call the main switchboard in Chicago.

They have a real operator. (847) 286-2500

Sears Stinks

Sears has gone to ***. I ordered a TV on Dec. 15th and have been working everyday. I finally had time to check on the order and guess what? They don't have the TV and will never have it at the price it was advertised. They didn't think I was worth an email or a call in this matter. I tried to get another TV and the same thing happened. They advertise a great deal but don't have it. This time I called the stores and found out that none of them had them in stock. Isn't this illegal or something? Bait and switch for sure. I'm closing my account there and will never shop there again. They really stink!

Customer since 1979.

That is what my credit card with $9800 limit on it says..

I have been a loyal customer, but no more. I wonder how many more there are like me.

I Would have guessed it would be cheaper to retain customers than to look for new ones.

Problems with Kenmore Elite Ht4 and Dryer HE within weeks of warranty expiration. Two service calls later installing parts never needed and still not fixing the problems I had to put my feet down when they wanted to replace a circuit board for $700 for parts and $150 labor. Total cost $900.

I had this washer sitting in my garage all these year finally decided to do something about it.

There are THOUSAND of complaints on the same appliances all over the internet as well as a fix.

I placed a call to Sears and now the part is down to $200 for the board. There is really nothing wrong with the boards other than one or two bad solder joints.

I fixed it myself with a replacement board for $89 bucks.

As for Sears complaint lines... DOn't even bother

You will have them

1-Put you on indefinite (punitive) hold

2-Ridicule you

3-Refuse to allow you to talk to the supervisor

4-Hang up on you.

Try getting to someone at the corporate. Good luck with that!

They have no idea how customer complaints are being dealt with.

I will not ever set foot in a Sears storre the rest of my life.

Sears review in Chicago, Illinois: Sear has horrible deliver and installation of appliances

Five years ago we bought a washer, dryer, and fridge. Sears delivery men spent forever hooking up washer and dryer and did not seem to know what they were doing then told me the fridge we ordered was too big and would not even try to install. Later my husband rescheduled the fridge delivery and it fit perfect but by then all our food had spoiled. Our washer recently broke and we bought from sears again. They came to deliver on christmas eve and could not unhook old one due to it being installed inproperly the first time. They offered the little in the way of apology and said they would send a skinny installation man today who could fit behind it to unhook the old machine. A call from Sears last night confirmed they would be at our place between 7 and 9. My husband stayed home from working waiting and no one came. After talking with 2 customer service people and a manager we are no farther along. They claim there was no appointment made. apparently the computer makes the appointments and they cannot be over ridden. So why were we promised this appointment last friday and had a call last night to confirm it? Now we are told they will send someone tomorrow. They refused to give us any discount but offered a 10% off coupon on our next purchase with them. Seriously????? I would never purchase from Sears again. I'd rather wash my clothes the old fashion way then buy from them. Anyone looking for appliances I recommend you stay away from Sears. Go to Abt or another appliance store if you want it done right!

back in the mid 1970's Sears was charged by feds for taking advantage of customers for brake jobs and other parts they didnt really need but preyed on the older people. Sears had to give each customer $50 in automotive care...wow..I would have went to prison...anyhow I havent bought ONE thing from Sears since the mid 70's and never will.
