Sears Canada

After having our oven glass door on a Kenmore Elite Induction Range explode twice in a year, we asked for a replacement stove. only to be told that we have to pay a $550 upcharge because we bought the stove on sale.

I don't care what I paid for the stove, I just want it replaced with the same model as I bought. If they sold it to me for one price, they can replace it for the same price. That is only logical as far as I am concerned.Having dealt with customer service for a week we asked who can make a decision and they told us to email the Vice President of Sears Canada. Then the calls started coming again from the customer service people, with no change in attitude. Basically saying pay the money or nothing will be done. Below is a copy of the email sent to Sears Canada Vice President. It probably never crossed his desk and was passed to one of his cronies. What a way to run a business. By the time Target moves into their territory it will be time for them to close their doors and go packing. Not soon enough as far as I am concerned.I hope someone out there at Sears is reading this stuff. Pissed......

Attention Vice President,

After talking to Sears service department this morning after the glass door exploded on our $3000 Kenmore Elite stove this morning, for the second time in a year.

Within 1 day of a year to be exact. The service department wants to send out a tech to replace the glass in the door again.

We find this highly unacceptable at this point. Attached are photos from the July 2011 and July 2012 incident.

The only conclusion I can come up with is that there must be either a design flaw or a fault with this particular door.

Last year the wife could not use her stove for 17 days while waiting for the glass to be replaced.

This incident scared the heck out of her again, and I do not blame her. Once I can understand, but twice I do not.

The first time it happened, the wife was preheating the oven and it only got to 250 degrees Fahrenheit when the glass blew out.

The second time,(this morning) the glass blew out without the stove even being on.

Attached are dated photos of both incidents for your review. You might be shocked to see the mess and how this could cause injury.

I bought this as a anniversary present for my wife and I am beginning to regret it, as she is afraid to use it anymore.

It was lucky that our niece was not here, at her height there could have been serious injury when the glass exploded.

I would very much like to hear your thoughts regarding this situation. I don’t think replacing the glass again is an option.

Personally, the wife would like to have the stove replaced. We purchased the extended warranty on this product, but did not expect this.

We have purchased all our appliances from Sears over the years, but have not run across anything like this.

My problems with Sears finally solved

I got tired of the promised service calls from Sears then no call and no show.I had several service contracts with Sears and now that they have ran out I now take all my appliance business to Home Depot or Lowe's Building Materials. They both offer service contracts and if the service technician can't make the appointment they have made alternate plans for another appointment within a reasonable time frame sometimes on the same day. So if I ever need to replace any appliance I go to Home Depot or Lowe's. Sears go jump in the lake! This is a classic example of a business taking my money and then when I need their help they hide.

I HAVE PURCHASED ALL MY APPLIANCES THRU SEARS FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS..I HAVE HAD THE MASTER PROTECTION WAARANTY ON MY WASHER, DISHWASHER, AND FRIDGE FREEZER RECENTLY..I CAN ONLY SAY THAT ANYTIME I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM, SEARS HAS RESPONDED QUICKLY, EFFICIENTLY, AND WITH GREAT COURTEOUSNESS AND PROFESSIONALISM FOR EACH REPAIR..I AM COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH SEARS APPLIANCES AND ESP THEIR MASTER PROTECTION AGREEMENT AND I AM CONSTANTLY RECCOMENDING THEM TO EVERYONE!!! All I can say is that it must be nice to have this job where you can totally suck and still get paid for it. If something like late deliveries or inaccurate phone times were a reoccuring thing in any other business, I am pretty sure that person would be immediately fired.

. .or maybe they were and went to work for Sears.

Sears in Danbury, Connecticut - Stove blows up and no customer service

Do not go to Sears for appliances and especially customer service. Our stove that we bought less than three ago suddenly without warning starting buzzing, then a flash of fire came from the back of it. Of course all the electronics were destroyed. We originally bought the extended warranty for the stove but when we came home and read through it, it mentions that it doesn't cover any of the electronics. Well, we called the warranty service and inquired about this and they agreed. So we cancelled the warranty since we only bought it for the electronics. We took the money instead and installed a whole house surge protector. My husband who is handy found the part and ordered the one we needed. When we received the part, they had changed slightly the design of it along with other two parts that they sent along. MMMM!!! Maybe they found a problem with the original part but doesn't want to admit it. When he called technical service about this part, the woman says that they can't help with any technical questions! Then what is a technical service for! He installed the parts and half the stove works but not all. After much trouble, a technician offered him some advice on our problem. If that didn't work, then we would have to order another part. Of course, it didn't work so now we have to order another part. The cost of these parts are now going to be more than half the original price of the stove that is less than 3 years old. I will never shop there again for appliances and I'm warning anybody I can about Sears also.

SEARS withholding refund

Purchased microwave Jan 7 online for store pickup. Ad claimed item was in stock. Drove 100 miles roundtrip a week after order was placed. Ship/receive/pick up dept declared unavailable as it was not in stock. Told me that I should have been informed but no one called or emailed to state that the microwave was not in stock. This department could not accept cancellation; told me to cancel online. Did so Jan 13. Many phone calls and emails but no refund. Each department blames another but it is now almost one month (Feb 4 )since order was cancelled and no refund has been made.

Sears in Stockton, California - 12 months no interest... never again

Sear’s paid off my promotional, “12 month no interest”, account 6 months early because I had a credit balance on my Revolving account. Instead of fixing the problem, reinstate my 12 month no interest, and send me a check for the credit balance on the revolving account. They lied! I had a choice of 12 months no interest or 20% off the purchase price. I got 6 months no interest and 0% off. Good thing my revolving account didn’t a credit balance after 1 month! Their credit department, Chase Bank, I was told “Has nothing to do with Sear’s” and “Sear’s has nothing to do with Chase”. Now, I have nothing to do with either one of them! After I stood my ground for 2 hours and told them I had been a store manager for the several department stores for 15 years. And, demanded an adjustment, I got a 6 months credit adjustment off the purchase price of the promo item which was $59.00. Thanks Sear’s! Can’t wait to go spend that at Lowe’s!

Sears in Milwaukee, Wisconsin - How ignorant can a company be?

I wanted to buy some new parts for my air compressor, but they need the model number of the compressor. The part I needed was destroyed, but was where the model number was located. After being transfered 8 time in one hour, I was told that each individual air compressor has it's own model number. Not each type, but each individual one. Most products have individual serial numbers, but sears uses individual model numbers?? Have I gone ***?? They wanted me to call the store that I bought it from 11 years ago and ask them if they remember the model number of the compressor they sold me that day....WTF? I even got transfered to the craftsman club to see if they could help??? What a great company...Who runs it, chimpanzees??

Sears in San Francisco, California - No handles to a new kenmore refrigerator

bought a new refrig 1/4/08; installed with non-fitting handles; two other sets of handles sent and we were informed we would have to install ourselves; nonfitting; went to local Sears store; service person came to our home. He realized the handles did not fit the refrig delivered and he was surprised the installers left it up to us to "figure it out". He ordered proper handles from Frigidaire person, never got a call back (as promised) and now have no other recourse. Will visit the local Sears store to ask for pickup of refrig and a total refund for a very botched job.

I have had the SAME problem!!! 4 sets of handles have been ordered with none of them fitting the refrigerator!

They even brought a brand new one and it also came without the top handle. We have been to the store about 10 times and no one calls back.
