I wanted to return 2 men's dress shirts and a tie that were still in their packaging with price tags attached and with the receipt. The purchase was past the 30 day return policy, so I can understand why I wouldn't be given a refund.

But the sales associate and then the manager would not even consider issuing a store credit. Heather, the manager, was rude and dismissive and said there was nothing that could be done. She blamed it on the computer system. Then she abruptly walked away from me when I was still trying to have a conversation with her.

There was no customer service, there was only customer attack. "Code One" was broadcast across the store when I asked to speak to a manager, and a group of Sears workers showed up and hung out close to the register when I spoke with Heather. She threw up her hands and walked away from me. Instead of building a customer relationship, where I would have happily continued shopping at Sears, she instead has lost a loyal customer because of shoddy treatment.

I will never shop at Sears again. No wonder so many Sears stores are closing.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Bye bye!

She is correct. The computer systems do not allow anything to be done at all without a receipt that is dated within 30 days.

30 days is 30 days is 30 days. You are not special, you get no exception. The receipt specifies 30 days for returns and exchanges. Store credit is still a form of a refund.

Why do people like you not have the brain capacity to comprehend 30 days??? Seriously!

30 days, 30 days, 30 days, 30 days. YOU ARE NOT AS SPECIAL AS YOU THINK YOU ARE!
