On December 14th, 2020, I purchased a refrigerator from your Sears Hometown store in Derby Vermont. I spent $1549.78 cash.

I was told that it would be delivered by the 18th. I thought that by supporting local businesses and a company that my family has trusted for generations would be a safe and pleasant experience. Sadly, I was gravely mistaken.

After the delivery date lapsed I tried calling the store to no avail repeatedly. The voicemail box was also full and there was no answer.

On about December 28th, 2020, I drove to the store where I was told that the refrigerator delivery date had been "changed by Sears" and that the new date was January 4th, 2021. On January 4th, 2020 I drove to the store (again) and asked to be refunded my money since the refrigerator never arrived. I was told that the since I didnt have a copy of the receipt with a code on the bottom that only a manager could refund the purchase. No manager was available that day so I would have to come back another time.

On January 5th, 2020 I (yet again) drove to the store and asked to speak with a manager. I was rudely told that the manager was there earlier in the day but was gone and since I did not have my receipt there was nothing that he could do. I went to my vehicle and called my bank to dispute the transaction. A short time later the rude elderly employee who was beckoned me back inside and the manager (who apparently lives across the street) arrived.

I again asked to be refunded my money.

He told me with a laugh that I was screwed since I didnt have my receipt. That it was Sears corporate policy that a receipt was required for any refunds.

User's recommendation: Never Buy from here.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

I complained also because I ordered a freezer (Kenmore) after five (5) rescheduled delivery dates, I still do not have my freezer and I have made to payments on it. I guess I will have to go through the same thing.

They said that they will deliver January 19th, but I doubt it. Thanks for the information idea to do the same thing if they refuse my refund and I still do not have my freezer. I told them if you cannot deliver, just tell me so and I will cancel, but they refused to say so.

Same here I ordered online but still haven't gotten freezer. Ordered in September was supposed to be delivered in November then December now January.


I called my bank and disputed the transaction as fraud, then filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I hope you get some sort of Justice or at least a freezer from these "people."
