I purchased a refrigerator from sears which was delivered January 4 2016. In February the ice maker started to leak and I called customer service.
They send a technician who spend couple of hours fixing it. He showed to me that the ice compartment was not sealed properly and the air would flow between ice maker compartment and the refrigerator . He taped foam and said said should work now. However, about a month after that the ice maker completely stopped working and the whole back part of the freezer compartment was icy which covered the vent.
Called customer service again and said that since there was manufacturing defect I would like it replaced and not keep patching up until I ran out of warranty timeframe. They said if the technician declares it's manufacture defect they will then replace it. When the technician came he said he has to come out 4'times and order parts and have to fix it 4 times before he can declare manufacturer defect. My question is if the product does have manufacturer defect why would I need to have parts replaced on the brand new refrigerator 4 times, which will bring it in "refurbished" condition even if it gets fixed.
I purchased a brand new appliance and would like to have a new appliance that doesn't break every other month and is not all taped up after a month of use. Me and my husband take time off from work every time he has to come out ( which he comes to take a look, orders stuff and then comes again to fix it and that constitutes one visit and not two). It's very costly for us and after 4 times of doing that we will lose more money than it would cost to buy a new appliance. Sears is a large merchant and should take responsibility for their defective product and not push it on the consumer.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
