Sears - Poor Customer Service from Manager - Image 2
I went to this store to purchase a shower gift only to find the item pictured below. I was then told by Jeff Gieb at the Edgewood Town Center location in Pittsburgh Pa that I was welcome to wipe the filthy dirty crib mattress if I wanted to purchase it. He then instructed the customer service clerk to get wet paper towels from the rest room and give them for me to wipe it off. When I asked if a employee could clean it. He refused to speak with me any further. He sent Larry who also told me to clean it myself or leave the store.

Came back and fixed the problem

Original review Mar 07, 2016
Delivered refrigerator on March 3rd. Refrigerator not leveled so that door would close. Should be a little higher in the front than the back so that the door closes automatically. I called on March 4th and they scheduled it to be done on Monday March 7th, which was fine. I called the morning of 7th and they said it had not been scheduled for Monday and I would have to wait until Tuesday. I asked for a supervisor and she was no help in getting it done on Monday, which my husband had rearranged his day to be there. Also, when you call in to speak to someone it would be nice to get someone that speaks English without an accent that you can't understand. Keep the calls in America. I am really tired of saying "I'm sorry I can't understand you". I work in customer service and trust me, Sears customer service has really gone down.

Warranty!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
You pay big bucks for Sears warranty on any appliance. But when your appliance fails you, you'll have to wait forever to get it fixed! Especially if some *** repairman orders the wrong parts on your first repair appointment. Then on the second repair attempt he finds out its the wrong part and has to reorder the part again! Let's see what the third repair attempt brings me!!! Ridiculous to have to deal with people like that! Yet he tells me the part should arrive the next day....haha which it never did and it's the weekend and Fedx and UPS does not deliver till Monday! What a bunch of *** from Sears appliances to the repairman!

WARNING! STAY AWAY FROM SEARS AND ALL THEIR PRODUCTS!!!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Hello, I am left with nowhere to turn. I would like to prevent this from happening from anyone else. Below is my story… I purchased a dryer and new refrigerator from Sears. My husband and I have a large family (6 kids) so, you can imagine the expenses of feeding a family of 8. Anyway, the dryer we purchased was delivered with no problem other than we paid the “haul away” fee and the service men refused to take our old dryer away stating “oh, we will never get this up the steps, either take it apart yourself and we will come back and take it, or get a refund for the haul away charge.” Needless to say, My husband took it up and out to the trash himself and we were never refunded the “haul away charge” that we paid for. Sadly to say, this isn’t even my story… The refrigerator that we had purchased in late May of 2015 completely stopped working in the beginning of September of 2015. We lost all food in our “3 month old fridge” and we called Sears immediately. It was a Friday. The customer service representative told me that the earliest they could come out, was the following Wednesday (yes, five days from them). This was considered an “Emergency call” to them. (Good thing I didn’t need them for a life threatening call) Anyway, we were forced to go out and purchase a 4.5 “Dorm type” refrigerator to put in our small kitchen, in order to atleast have something to keep eggs, milk, water etc in the house. We estimated to have lost about $350 worth of food, including all the condiments, salad dressings and food that we had. Sears told us that they would not reimburse any food loss because we didn’t’ purchase the “extended warranty” which takes over after the original warranty is over (basically, we only had the refrigerator for a few short months and the original manufacturers warranty was still in effect). After waiting 5 long days and dealing with only being able to store small amounts of cold food in our tiny “supplement” refrigerator, the day was finally here for the repairman to come. The night before, we had a call stating that they would be here first thing between 8am and 9am whereas; we were supposedly their first service appointment. Wednesday came and went without a repairman in sight. Finally, late afternoon, I called Sears only to be told that the “repairman” had called out that day. I was also told to call the 1 800 number to reschedule. When I called, they informed me that they would not be able to come out until the following week because apparently they were backed up with the “Pope” coming the next weekend. (why that made a difference, I don’t know). As you could imagine, I was furious. I managed to search the internet and find a number in corporate Sears Solutions. I have to admit, I was in tears at this point. The nice lady heard my story and apologized. She pulled some strings and had a brand new, same model, refrigerator delivered the next day. You probably are thinking, “happy ending” or “all is right in the world” again. WRONG! The refrigerator worked for about 7 weeks until we began to hear the same loud sound from the motor again coming from the new fridge. It was the Saturday after Thanksgiving that I awoke to a non-working refrigerator again. This time, I lost all the food in the refrigerator including all the Thanksgiving leftovers and the tons of Homemade turkey soup that I spent all day Friday making for our family ( I actually have photos ).. Again, all the condiments, foods, drinks, milks etc GONE! Well, here we go again, called Sears again. This time was told they were so extremely busy but would call me back. They put in an “emergency alert” and said that someone would call me ASAP. I kept calling each day with no luck. We turned off the refrigerator (not being able to stand the loud sound-plus it wasn’t’ working anyway) and let it sit for a while. We turned it back on and were able to get it running, however, had to ensure it was on the highest level. It did seem to get cold again. On Tuesday, (4 days after the emergency call was placed) there was a knock at the door and SURPRISE!! It’s a sears repairman, unannounced! Lucky I was home, you are thinking… He spent about 5 minutes, moved the 3 bags of frozen broccoli 5 inches to the left” and called it a day. He said “it seems to be cooling off fine” I begged him to check into it further, telling him that we had just turned it off and on and he said, “if it happens again, call, and we will be right out”. Funny, right?! Well, Sadly, my story doesn’t end there. With Christmas approaching and the refrigerator seeming to be running fine, I went on with my life, so to speak. December 26th , the sound started up again! I called sears only to be placed on hold. Late Sunday the 27th of December (yesterday) the refrigerator stopped working altogether once again. So, here I am, once again, calling for an “emergency repair” from Sears. After speaking with several people, being hung up on 3 times and 45 minutes of wait time, I finally got a “manager” YAY! – not so fast… I was told that the next available appointment would be January 6th. This is 9 days from now. Am I supposed to just sit back, take a food loss of hundreds of dollars (total of 3 times) and just do nothing?? My husband works two jobs to support our family. We are a large family who as many, cannot afford for this to happen! So I am begging anyone that will listen, to tell my story so it will not happen to anyone else. I now want to make it my job to let people know not to purchase products from Sears. They do not stand behind their products and do not care the difficulties that their customers go through. If you research the internet, you will find hundreds of stories like mine.

My brand new Kenmore Laundry Center got out of the truck on the Highway the same day I went to pick it up at the Sears store. It was instailled at the house and was dropping the water outside from the bottom part of the unit. The Sears technician came to check it. The warranty doesn't apply and I understand but if I want to pay for the repair Sears doesn't have the parts in stock because it a "BRAND NEW LAST MODEL LAUNDRY CENTER". WHAT CAN I DO????

Merchandise return

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
In 11/2014 my sister was in the process of buy Christmas gifts from various vendors. She purchased 2 Intuition Plus shaving units @ $38.81 each plus tax and shipping. She entered the hospital in 12/2014 and continued to decline in health until passing away in 8/2015. She never had a chance to distribute these gifts as she was hoping to return home to do this herself. In handling her affairs and clearing out her apartment I came across these undelivered gifts. I am attempting to pick up the loose ends and return this merchandise where possible. The Sears invoice shows these items sold by Cheapees. The Sears store in White Plains, NY tells me this item is not in their system and therefore cannot be accepted for return. They suggested I contact Cheapees. The total cost was $92.78. I would appreciate your help with this problem.

Yeah, just sell this stuff on Ebay or to some friends or something. Unfortunately, your Mom bought the stuff almost a year ago...

there is not a retailer in the WORLD that will take stuff back purchased that long ago. Seriously, just give up on that...

it's only $92, not thousands. It sucks that she passed away, but I'm sure that you have more issues than the $92 to worry about if you are handling her post-life affairs.

Emergency service for Sears Protection Plan?

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Yes they have a number in the event your water heater fails or something of an emergency nature happens. And they certainly have a 24 hour 7 day a week department if you would like to BUY a plan or an appliance....but their emergency line is only open 6 days a week. I tried signing up at Sears to register a complaint and the site would not accommodate my request to sign up. Go figure. Your hot water system bursts and you cannot get help from them. Then they offer you a two week out appointment. Lovely Losing faith in Sears. They need to open that department 7 days a week for sure. The other incident happened when I requested a maintenance check for all of the items covered under the protection agreement. They sent someone out after a two week lag and that service person was only hired to look at certain appliances with no other appointment for the heating and air conditioning. I called again to make an appointment for the items and they gave me two other appointments (with the same technician), one appointment two weeks out and the other three weeks out. How I LOVE waiting all day for a technician...

Shop?rewards

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Due to the fact Sears issued me and another shopper Mr. Hernandez the same shopyourwayrewards # I requested that they delete my info. Sears issued me a new # and assured me my previous info had been deleted. I don't know why I continue to shop at Sears..but oh well...on Tuesday August 18, 2015 I returned to Sears to redeem a text promotion I had received....at checkout I could not remember my shopyourwayrewards pin # ...the cashier then shared with me that I could login to my rewards account using my email address if I had the app on my phone...I was thrilled....unfortunately for me I inadvertently entered the email address that Sears linked with Mr. Hernandez acct ..the cashier then looked at me funny and said this is not your acct. I apologized for the error...it was very humiliating for me ..I have written to Sears several times but they refuse to delete my email from the account they have given to Mr. Hernandez. I also shared with them that they should just start over by deleting mine and Mr. Hernandez's # and start fresh due to the fact I have Mr. Hernandez info I'm sure that he has access to mine..but Sears refused.

Bought new craftsman lawn tractor, is a peace of ***.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We bought a new craftsman lawn trator, this is the second season, warrenty out by one month. Uses 1/2 quart of oil for 30 mins of mowing, went to the bbb and Sears refused to do anything to make us the costumer happy, all we wanted was for them to cover repair. Will never buy anything again at Sears, ornkmart they own them, unless the make it right, and I know that will never happen. The lawn mower was ordered on the web site, when it was received it was damaged, they said they would get us what we needed to fix the body damage, but that we could not return or get a different one, this was a brand new one, it's been a lemon, and I just can't beleive Sears would rather lose customers than make a customer happy by fixing there product only that little of time out of warrenty, it was stored for the winter it's not used here for anything other than mowing. We had know idea that this problem would happen in the spring. All we want is for the lawn tractor to been repaired.

Resolved: 18" 42cc chainsaw came with no 14" bar or chain

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user Feb 25, 2015

I got $83 back on a $119 saw. So I paid $36 for the saw. If I wasn't off in the winter months I would not have had the time to spend 55 minutes on the line with customer service along with writing an email.

Original review Feb 24, 2015
I purchased model # 35834**** which is a 18" 42cc chainsaw with extra 14" bar & chain. It was $119.88 on clearance.

No stores had it with in 50 miles of my house. Sears permantly closed the 2 closest stores to my house. Now the closest store to me is a 40 minute drive. The only store that had it was an hour a way so based on price I decided to drive an hour out and an hour back to get it.

Box was sealed and correct item # on box. No extra 14" bar or chain in box. Also saw in box was red instead of black and the model # on the saw & manual ended in 900 instead of 950. Poulan makes both the red & black Craftsman saws.

They are identical besides paint color. I spoke with Joe the store manager at 9525 Lincoln Highway in Bedford PA offered me a $15 gift card. He told me he would see if he could do better. Next day he gives me nothing and tells me to return the saw.

No clearance saws left for $120. I guess he thought I would return the $120 red saw & buy the same red saw for $160. I also spent 55 minutes on the line with customer service. Hard to understand and no help.

I asked Joe if he heard of Sears Parts Direct with over 8 million parts.  Via pdf file I looked up model ending in 950. Sure enough they had part #'s for the 14" bar & chain. Joe said they cannot ship me the parts that were rightfully mine.

Don't you think the right think for Sears to do would be to ship me the parts free of charge of course & a gift card for my inconvienence. No more Sears for me!
