We had sears home service (SHS) install a brand new 5,000 Heat& Air unit July 2009. In April, we turned the unit from heat to A/C and it did not work.

After several repair calls ( some of which were no shows by the repairman, unsuccessful repairs, accusations that the installers improperly put in the unit...) and several months of heat indices over a 100 degrees, I decided to file a claim with better business bureau. We had endured April/May/June/July without air conditioning. Although the BBB claim helped expedited the repair run-arounds, SHS told BBB they would replace the unit- instead, they sent a repairman to "rebuild" the unit. We also asked for a written warranty on the "replaced" unit, which SHS denied- since it wasn't genuinely a replaced unit, they could only give a 90 service agreement.

This is some bull----! SHS told the BBB that the unit was repaired and BBB closed the claim. At this point, we are left to go through small claims court. SHS is dishonest, shady, and unreliable.

There is no accountability and they treat their customers as numbers and figures, not the humans we are who live in the south and could have easilly died of heat stroke! I encourage everyone with an issue with them to band together, don't waste your time with them, go directly to the Better Business Bureau so their business practices are forced to be re-evaluated!

Amen! I've had nothing but headaches dealing with Sears. They stink on ice!
