The Westgate mall store is closing the first week in September so they have discounted everything, well maybe not. As a avid sears shopper for years I have a unique perspective as to Sears so called sale.
Since I am buying a new house I am on a quest to buy all new stainless steel appliances. Money is an issue for me. So I went to sears to purchase their floor models hopefully at a huge discount. Look closely at the sign on just one of the refrigerators.
I requested to speak to a manager to clarify their pricing on this sign. The female manager said that the sign was correct. I could indeed purchase that floor model dented and scratched for $1423.00 or purchase a new one online for 899.00 which included free shipping. I told her that this makes no sense and asked where was the additional 35% off that was advertised on the purchase of appliances.
She couldn’t answer any of my questions and finally just threw her hands in the air and walked away. I was relentless in my pursuit. And spoke with a second manager who said she was the assistant store manager. Unlike the first manager this one was rude and combative.
I told her I just wanted to purchase the floor models. She said you saw the sign and the price reflected is correct. To be sure she understood the full picture I reiterated that sears was in fact selling the dented and scratched floor models for considerably more than the new online price. She said that was correct.
When I asked about the advertised additional 35% off her response was astounding.
She said the price on the sign was the final price. At this point I felt beaten down and unable to find the voice of reason finally left the store.
