Sears - Installers with no clue and obscene verbal abuse
One week before Christmas, and the very night before my 86 year old Mum was due to arrive from England to stay with us, our old washing machine broke and we suffered a major flood. I’m talking about 768 gallons of water, ceilings collapsed and around $50,000 worth of...

I'll be glad when I here that this company has finally gone out of business, and has shut it's very last store down.

Sears - Washer/Dryer Unit Sitting in My Dining Room...Its Not Over Yet

1.0
Details
Purchased a washer/dryer laundry unit from Sears from a salesperson who was wonderful. Delivery was a nightmare. They showed up at the time expected yesterday, brought the unit in, and within ten minutes told me they couldn't do the installation because there was a a part I needed to get. What? Yes, really -- they told me I had to go to the hardware store for the part myself, and reschedule for the next day! Badly in need of a washer/dryer, I consented to this. They promised me they would be here at 7:30 a.m. the next day, and I even stood there as they called and put me on the list for 7:30 a.m. -- as I'd told them that I had to be somewhere at 9:30 and absolutely could not cancel it, that I'd not be available until after 12:30 if it were to be an afternoon delivery. They left the unit in the middle of my dining room. Last night, I received an automated call telling me that delivery time for today is between 10:45-12:15. I spent 30 minutes on the phone talking to individuals who attempted to soothe and apologize as they told me there was nothing they could do about it. I asked to speak to a manager, and after being on hold for fifteen minutes, I believe it was the same person who picked up my call and, I got the same results. My brother called and got the same responses from them. I called a second time -- another wasted half hour. So...here I sit with the washer/dryer unit in the dining room. Disgusted, will never do business with Sears again and will spend tomorrow at the laundromat.

Sears - Washer/Dryer don’t fit in space

2.8
Details
Today , Oct 24, 2017, our new washer and dryer were delivered. They go into a tight space with a door. I gave the Sears salesman VERY explicit measurements as to the size of the space. Now we find out they can’t put the doors back on because the new dryer has a back vent and the old one had a side vent. I specifically told the salesman that the existing washer and dry were pushed right up against the back wal... which should have been an indication that the vent was on the side. Never once mentioned anything about vent placement. Knowing I had such a small space, and the depth I gave him he should have known it wouldn't Fit!!! Don’t care about making the customer happy... just make a sale. This idn’t The first time either. I can see why they are going out of business.

Ordered online, and again, delivery went from 1 week to 2 weeks, and when the delivery folks came, they said that they had not received instructions to install. I have spent hours on the phone, scheduling and rescheduling and, after 6 weeks, the *** things have yet to be installed. I will NEVER purchase anything from Sears...

In 2016 I bought a stacked full size washer dryer set from sears. It touted being able to dry a load of 20 towels at the same time.

After it was hooked up, it couldn't do a normal load of clothes. The drum would not turn unless I removed over half the clothes. They sent out a replacement and it had the same problem. I sent it back for a refund and they charged me a restocking fee.

Currently, I just bout a range from sears. It is still under warranty. The control panel for the oven just went out. They sent out a repairman who refused to honor the warranty because he found roach droppings on a fully enclosed part on the circuit board.

There was no way a roach could have gotten in the tight fitting part on the circuit board and it was totally enclosed in a case. Sears does everything it can to get out of honoring their warranties. I fear what will happen when the 2 yr old side by side refrigerator I bought from the starts breaking. They are a dishonorable company now.

They are not the same one whom my grandfather was committed to. He owned nothing but kenmore appliances.

Sears in Fort Wayne, Indiana - Installers got in fight, use F-Bomb, and didn’t finish (Wash&Dryer hookup)

2.3
Details
Unbelievable poor installation and service team (got into a fight with each other and used the F-Bomb and his only adjective). Purchased a washer and dryer instore after researching the brand and model I wanted. Delivery scheduled for the next Saturday. I was out of town but my wife and mother were present. Two delivery men arrived and began to argue with each other in my driveway about how to assemble the pedestals. Their argument became very loud and obscene. One yelled back at the other, “Don’t tell me how to do my ***’N JOB!” It became bad enough that my wife called my neighbor to come over to help prevent a fight. Then the rest of the fun began. They told my wife that, “they were only scheduled 14 minutes to be here and didn’t have time for this ***.” (as if their scheduling issue was my wife’s fault). The service order specifically stated that the doors on the washer had to be reversed. The installed told my wife, “we don’t do that ***’n stuff out in the field, and I don’t have the right drill bit to do it.” My wife informed him that her brother was a contractor and she was sure he would have the drill bit needed. Then he immediately yelled, “*** It!” walked out to his truck and brought in the drill to do it. While switching the doors my wife walked past the laundry room right when the installed yelled, “Oh ***!” and she hear something drop into the bottom of the washer. He looked up and her and quickly said “Don’t worry that won’t hurt anything”. After over an hour they left, but first handed my wife the package that contained the new hose that the sale rep told me was required and that they would not install a new washer without it. The installer told my wife, “The one you had was better than that cheap piece of *** they sold you, so I left the old one on.” When I returned home that evening I noticed the dryer did not have the water line hooked up (this model has a steam option). That night I received an online survey. I filled it out honestly and one question asked if I wanted a member of management to return my call. I replied “Yes”. About 30 minutes later I got a call from “Rick”, the Fort Wayne, IN store manager. He heard my complaint and claimed he was going to have the regional manager call me. They would schedule someone to come out and finish the installation. So far no return call. Would have gladly paid more and gone somewhere else.
